review: Elf, the beauty encyclopedia basic edition eyeshadows

Some of you asked me about how elf products were and to review the beauty encyclopedia basic edition eyeshadows. I am pretty new to makeup. Like, I have always used some eyeshadows and mascaras before but it has been few months that I have actually started experimenting with my looks and all. I heard about elf makeup few months ago through internet. I was amazed that their makeup was so economic (I don’t like the word cheap). Way economic than most drugstore products. I went to their website and found that they have discounts all the time. Like, they have four brands and there is 50%, 60% off of brands at times and free shipping and so on. It is amazing. It is perfect for the beginners. Most of the products are a dollar. If you don’t like the product, you lose a dollar. Pretty sweet. You might find few elf products at target, kmart, dollar store etc. Also, elf products are either hit or miss. Some products are just amazing and some doesn’t work. I don’t own a lot of their products, so I won’t be able to review all of them. I love all the products I own from them except for the mascara duo worth a dollar which I hated. I love their bronzer, all over cover stick, super glossy lip shine and so on. Their products from studio lines are great. The lipsticks from mineral line are awesome. I have also heard great deal about their studio line's eyebrow kit.

So lets get to the eyeshadow review. I am new to this whole reviewing thing. But I will try, let me know if I need to change my style or what not. I bought the basic edition for half price, $2.50 USD. It gives you instructions on how to applying the eyeshadows. It also comes with a eye pencil and a sponge applicator. The product looks very attractive. There is a plastic shield that covers the eyeshadows too. The packaging is great. Here are the swatches of the colors.

The colors are very pigmented and are beautiful. You get 14 colors and most of them are shimmery but not over shimmery(if that makes any sense). Few colors are matte. The two colors on the bottom of the palette are the creme eyeshadows. These two colors are different but the outcome is the same as you can see on the swatches(the first two simmery colors on my right hand). All the colors are a little powdery. So, while applying it, dab the colors on first. And little color goes long way. These are really good eyeshadows and for the price even more great. The staying power is pretty good too. I would give it 3/5 rating. I hope this was helpful. Thanks for reading!
